His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, expressed optimism that his visit to Russia would contribute to injecting fresh blood into the global economy and yield positive outcomes for the interests of both countries.

"We are confident the visit will help us arrive at common views and new and creative ideas that lay the ground for bilateral relations based on mutual respect and common interests," Shaikh Mohammad said in a statement upon his arrival in Moscow on Monday.

Shaikh Mohammad arrived on a two-day official visit to Russia and held talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday. He will also discuss with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin bilateral relations and new avenues of cooperation. Talks will also cover regional and international developments and other issues of mutual interest. Following the meeting with Medvedev, Shaikh Mohammad said the visit marks the start of a new phase in UAE-Russian relations that will further enhance the historic ties between the two peoples.

"Our visit to Moscow at this level reflects the keenness of our leadership, government and people to extend new bridges and open new channels of communication that lead to laying a strong foundation for cooperation and economic and investment partnership between the UAE and Russia," he added.
